Karen Turner was a nurse during Grandmother’s tenure as custodian of Dorley Hall. She was noted for her sadistic cruelty and sexual abuse of the Dorley girls under her control.

She returned briefly to the new Dorley Hall in 2019, as a stopgap measure to do medical exams on the boys in the basement after the previous nurse Barbara retired.^[ch. 11] During this brief stint, despite her assurances that she would behave appropriately, she again used her position of power and authority to sexually humiliate and abuse the boys. Following Stephanie’s protest to Aunt Bea,^[ch. 12] Karen disappeared, with the strong implication that Beatrice had her murdered.^[ch. 14]
