Jenny Yau is a woman who lives in Almsworth. She was a friend of Melissa's mother Laura from when the two were teenagers, and remained close until Laura's death in 2009.[ch. 24] It is implied the two were lovers.[ch. 33]
Melissa babysat Jenny's daughter Ada for a while in 2008. On Melissa's first visit to their flat, Jenny realized the girl was bulimic, and kept Melissa's secret in exchange for a promise to adhere to a strict care regimen, including two solid meals a week.[ch. 24]
