Chapter 3: Death by Chocolate is the third chapter of the first book of the series. Christine reckons with her decision to put Stefan in the basement and starts feeling guilt about it. Stefan learns that the Dorley Hall programme is real and knows he has to stay.

The title is a reference to the cake Vicky is eating.

Plot

2019, Christine

Christine reflects on the decisions she's made. Embracing womanhood, giving up smoking, putting Stefan in the Dorley basement. She talks with Indira on the phone about the new boy, Stefan, then executes her plan to get into the basement using her hacking abilities.

2019, Stefan

Stefan is briefed on where exactly he is: the basement two of Dorley Hall. In turn, he shares his theories about the place, and why he started looking closely at Dorley Hall. Christine thinks that she shouldn't have brought Stefan in, but Stefan is excited. Not only is it a chance to transition, it's a chance to meet Melissa/Mark again. He asks Christine if she is transgender. Before he can express his desire to stay, Christine flees before someone notices she's in the basement.

2019, Christine

Christine safely avoids meeting Pippa in the basement and heads back upstairs. She talks to Vicky about Lorna, her trans and non-Dorley girlfriend who really likes Bloodbourne. Once back in her room, she agonizes about her hasty decision to put Stefan into the programme. She thinks Stefan is a decent guy and is guilty about subjecting him to force-feminization. And worse, Pippa is his sponsor; she believes Pippa will be very harsh on Stefan.
