Lorna

Lorna Fielding is an activist and trans woman.

She shares a house with her girlfriend, Vicky, who supplies her with estradiol valerate pills snuck out of Dorley Hall. Lorna is initially unaware of the truth about Vicky or Dorley Hall, but is eventually read into the programme by Christine, Paige, and Stephanie.^[ch. 20] She is initially furious with the programme, and specifically takes her anger out on Christine. Later, she comes to understand the nuances of the programme, and apologises. She is openly given access to HRT, along with consults for facial electrolysis and bottom surgery, to be covered by Dorley.

She is socially acquainted with Indira's mother Aasha Chetry, having met at demonstrations in support of trans rights.^[ch. 21]

Information about Lorna's parents and her relationship with them is somewhat contradictory. Vicky mentions that she visited her parents overnight,^[ch. 10] but we later find out that her mother moved out sometime after she was fifteen;^[ch. 20] Lorna regarded her mother as a source of "danger" before that,^[ch. 20] and she suggests that her mother would "kill her" for being a woman.^[ch. 20] It's possible that she stayed with her father and only briefly visited her mother (perhaps while boymoding), or that she stayed with her father and a step-parent.
