AGA

The AGA is a cooking and heating appliance in the kitchen of Dorley Hall. Like all AGAs, it has no knobs or other controls that are employed in normal use; instead, it burns fuel constantly, heating several oven compartments and hot plates to various temperatures and radiating heat to keep the kitchen warm. Girls cooking with the AGA must shift their food around to control how it is heated. The resulting appliance is inefficient, difficult to cook with, and heats the kitchen excessively during the warmer months, but it creates a pleasant and homespun atmosphere.

The AGA was already installed by the time Elle and Aunt Bea took over the Hall in 2004.^[ch. 34]
