Jan is a Dorley graduate and a Peckinville employee. She is one of Elle Lambert’s "most trusted" assistants [SD 35] and Elle seems to frequently rely on her opinions and analysis. [SD 35] [SD 44]
Jan is Black, with a "deep, dark" skin tone. Valérie notes that it seems that she "soothes her nerves and fortifies her spirit with clothes, with makeup, with the manner in which she holds herself," taking particular care to dress smartly in occasion-appropriate fashion. [SD 45]
Jan has a husband named Robert and the two are planning to have children. [SD 35]
Personal history
Jan is from an early intake over a decade ago and still gets extremely anxious around Aunt Bea, maintaining a "habitual deference" toward her; Bea recalls that the early intakes "were a tad rough." [SD 35] To this day, she seems very hesitant to even enter the Hall, [SD 37] even just to do laundry. [SD 38]
She is friends with Tabitha and though the two had not kept in touch for a long time, they were reunited when Peckinvile was required to establish a portable installation at Dorley Hall following Diana and Trevor's abduction. [SD 35]
Elle's assistant
As Elle's assistant, Jan wears many hats:
- She is selected to brief the Peckinville PMC soldiers stationed at the portacabins due to her history at the hall. [SD 35]
- Outside the walls of Dorley Hall, she out-ranks Aunt Bea in the Peckinville hierarchy. [SD 35]
- Jan represents Elle's interests at Dorley Hall[SD 37] and speaks on her behalf when necessary. [SD 45]
- She is present when Trevor is brought to to the medical unit after escaping Stenordale Manor. [SD 37]
- Christine liaises with Jan regarding network security matters. [SD 38]
- Jan is authorized to vet new hires at the Peckinville ranch. [SD 43]
- Following the attempted sniper attempt against Elle, she briefs Bea and the Dorley sponsors on the situation. [SD 45]
