Tabitha, also known as Tab (and in some editions Tabby), is a sponsor at Dorley Hall, one of the oldest on staff. She is currently sponsoring Leigh.

Tabby was the first Dorley girl to graduate with a New Personal History that made her legally transgender.^[ch. 22] She is exclusively attracted to men, but before Levi, she had a string of relationships that ended when her boyfriends came out as a trans woman.

Tabby is Black^[ch. 20] and has naturally curly hair.^[ch. 33] She is from Southampton

Notes on biographical information

• The online editions call Tabitha “Tabby” pretty often, but these uses taper off by chapter 40, and the Neem Tree Press edition of Welcome to Dorley Hall replaces uses in Chapter 1–15 with her full name. Alyson has said this was an intentional decision:

I originally named her Tabby when I was just filling out a name list for the sponsors. When I started to characterise her, and especially when she started getting POVs, I decided the name didn't quite suit her, that I preferred Tabitha for her. So as the revision process for the books goes on, I'm changing that, and I've been writing new chapters with her name written out fully for a while

• Tabitha’s intake and graduation years are supposition based on the following assumptions:

1. Tabitha was inducted during the normal age range of 18–25, placing her somewhere between the 2005 intake and 2012 intake.
2. Tabitha was not in the long 2005 intake with Edy, nor the 2012 intake with Melissa, since this has never been mentioned.
3. Tabitha was in an earlier intake than Indira, since Tabitha was the “first one here to try” a trans NPH^[ch. 22] but Indira also appears to have one.
